Shiseido Aqualabel Background Music

We made the music and sound effects for a new interactive website for Shiseido (Japan’s leading skin care company).

It is all in Japanese, but to get through it just write your name in the first box, and then choose 3 things from the next page (just choose whichever ones if you can’t read it, it is OK). After that the animation should start.

Concept & Process
The main animation of the site is based around a series of balloons, so we decided to make all of the drum beats from the sound of balloons. The other main theme is a girl walking around on her own, so we made most of the other sounds from Yoshimi (a girl) doing what she does when she walks around alone, humming and whistling! There is also a small sine tone melody in the middle to kind of give it a mysterious feeling like waiting to hear your fortune.

Sometimes when I am walking around and imagining a song, every other thing I hear seems to somehow fit into it, so I re-pitched all of the sound effects to make them fit with the song too. So the cat and the birds are singing in her head too. The dog sound is from Yoshimi’s parents little dog named Poko,

We were invited to soundtrack it from two awesome studios:
righting and imaginative.
